Here we will show the vast variety of activities we offer to students throughout the year including Ten Tors, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Overseas Expeditions, Scuba Diving, Sailing, Paddlesport, Rock Climbing and Mountaineering, Mountain Biking, Power Kiting and much more.
Today all the Adventure Students were out at Alder Lake revisiting 2 Star skills in multiple craft including capsizing and rescue skills. Well done to the those that passed and the others will pass shortly.
Today the Year 8 Boys had a second session mountain biking. We rode out to Central Park, putting the skills learnt in last weeks session into practice on the muddy, slippy slopes.
Stunning sky and happy paddlers were the order of the day as Year 11 completed their third canoe session, getting off the water just as the sun was setting.
Due to a number of injuries and the strong winds blowing around, we went to Exeter Canal. Paddling Sea kayaks we looked at paddle selection and how this influences paddling. We also palyed a few games of Canoe Polo, with only one swimmer.
A quick blast around Dartmoor this afternoon with the Gold D of E students. Nowhere near as nice as last week and even a few minutes of heavy drizzle to keep us moving.
Due to the current lack of water in the rivers, today the Second year BTEC students ran a day touring on the Tamar for the First year students. Launching at Cotehele Quay we paddled up river past Morwelham Quay, not quite making it to Gunnislake, we enjoyed lunch afloat before turning and riding the change of flow back to Cotehele.
Today we were on the lower section from Buckfastleigh to Staverton with both the L6 and U6 students. The water levels were a bit low but that didn't stop a few students swimming
Today, two of the U6 students were on the Lower Dart improving their White water kayaking skills before they look at leading some kayaking in a few weeks time.
A windy day on the sea but we managed to find shelter while weaving among the rocks. Today concludes a series of four sessions looking at the British Canoe Union (BCU) Two Star syllabus. Conclusions from the day are that more warm jumpers are needed.
Today the U6 Adventure BTEC students hit the Lower Dart from Buckfastleigh to Staverton. Only 2 off them out today and both did well with Alex showing off his rolling ability
