Dive Gozo Day 6

 Will, Emily, Robbie and Dario

Safety Stop on the Anchor Chain

 Matthew

Today was the boat diving day. This morning we all headed out to Comino, the small island between us and Malta where we dived the P31 Wreck in the morning. This was a fantastic new experience for a lot of the students who had not dived from a boat before and had to do free descents down "into the blue". We moved round the corner into a bay for lunch and then dived the Comino Caves in the afternoon. A shallower but amazing dive into and out of tunnels. On the way into the caves, we had some bread left from lunch and the Bream came and ate from our hands. See the video above of Mr Starks getting mobbed by hungry fish.

 Will S on his Birthday

 Dario

This morning, the OW students finished their course in Xlendi Bay. Congratulations to all 6 who passed. The others headed to The Inland Sea. This afternoon, everyone headed to Xwejni Bay where we all had a shallower but interesting dive. At 20:30 some of us will be back in for our night dive.

This morning we headed to Coral Gardens near The Blue Hole for our first dive of around 20 metres. The OW students finished their last pool session and theory tests. After lunch, the fun divers split and the advanced party went to the Inland Sea whilst the other took on the tunnel in Xlendi Bay.
Finally at around 15:30, the OW students left the confines of the swimming pool and had their first trip in Xlendi Bay to a depth of around 8m.

Dive Gozo Day 2

 Matthew

 Will

 Amy

Timmy

Whilst the OW students continued their training in the pool (although they were let into the sea for their swim test), the rest of us headed to The Blue Hole for some great diving including spotting some Grouper. After lunch, we dived at Xaat - L Ahmar, a shallower reef with a variety of fish life.

I am doing my best to swim around and video each group as much as possible so all students get to appear on this blog.

Dive Gozo Day 1

Dr J

Will & Timmy

Having left Plymouth on Saturday night, we travelled by minibus, plane, bus, ferry and another minibus to arrive at our base at Moby Dives on the island of Gozo.

7 of the students are taking the PADI Open Water course, 1 taking the Advanced OW and 5 are here purely for fun. Todays fun dives were in Xlendi Bay and  at Raz-il Hobz in 23 degree water whilst the OW students were in the slightly colder swimming pool.
