Gold DofE Dartmoor Walk

A quick blast around Dartmoor this afternoon with the Gold D of E students. Nowhere near as nice as last week and even a few minutes of heavy drizzle to keep us moving.

Upper Sixth leading Tamar Touring trip

Due to the current lack of water in the rivers, today the Second year BTEC students ran a day touring on the Tamar for the First year students.  Launching at Cotehele Quay we paddled up river past Morwelham Quay, not quite making it to Gunnislake, we enjoyed lunch afloat before turning and riding the change of flow back to Cotehele.

Out on the River Dart from Holne to Buckfastleigh today continuing with intro to whitewater paddling for the L6 Adventure students.

Sunday on the Moor

Well done to all those who were walking this Sunday. Clear sky, frost and little wind made it a superb time to be out on the Moor.

Great weather on Dartmoor

This afternoon 2 Gold DofE teams were out on Dartmoor enjoying the amazing weather that we had today.

Another River Dart day

Today we were on the lower section from Buckfastleigh to Staverton with both the L6 and U6 students. The water levels were a bit low but that didn't stop a few students swimming

River Dart Paddle



Today, two of the U6 students were on the Lower Dart improving their White water kayaking skills before they look at leading some kayaking in a few weeks time.

2 Star coaching

Today the L6 were out at Alder Lake getting some more practice in their boating skills before we hit the moving water later this week.

Level Two Powerboat

Well Done to Sean, Alex and Ana who passed their Level Two Powerboat today.

Lower VI on the sea in White Water Kayaks

A windy day on the sea but we managed to find shelter while weaving among the rocks.  Today concludes a series of four sessions looking at the British Canoe Union (BCU) Two Star syllabus. Conclusions from the day are that more warm jumpers are needed.

Today the Ad Bac students were out in Plymouth Sound with Mr Rees and Mr Starks for some Sea Kayaking.

White Water Kayaking - Lower Dart



Today the U6 Adventure BTEC students hit the Lower Dart from Buckfastleigh to Staverton. Only 2 off them out today and both did well with Alex showing off his rolling ability

Canoeing on Exeter Canal

Today the L6 Adventure BTEC students were on Exeter Canal as part of their BCU Two Star training.  We had only one capsize despite challenging each other to stand up in the boat, then stand on the seats and finally stand on the gunnels.  Superb day out in the sunshine.
