Second year sea kayak from Wembury

A great day out being confused by the differences between charts and maps, rock hopping and sea caves with a little surf to cap the day off on the landing.

First Year students on the Avon

A sunny, if very windy, day out on the water.  We caught the last of the tide from Aveton Gifford and paddled to, almost, the sea.  Stopping en-route to practice solo some paddling - at which all students excelled.  It is very interesting to see the development between today and their first session.  A great time was had by all.

Kayak training at Newton Ferrers

A good session on the Yealm in a variety of boats, we covered a fair distance and had a few races.

A paddle out on the Exe and Exeter Canal

As the first canoe trip for the First Year students we headed down the Exeter Canal to Haysham, then back up the Exe.  Everyone's paddling improved significantly throughout the day, and we only had one swim when a pair both tried reaching for a paddle at the same time!

Many rescues in many boats

Only a couple of photo's today as we spent most of the time falling out of boats and finding different ways of getting back in again.  Well done to all the students who kept positive all the way until the end of the day.

Intro to paddling for first year students

The first year students tried out canoes, sea kayaks and white water kayaks at Alder Lake, discovering the scope and versatility of each craft, along with  different ways of falling out of them!
